About me and my practice

Hi, I'm Kate McKenna, a BACP Registered Counsellor and Couples Therapist based in Godalming, Surrey.

I specialise in helping individuals and couples navigate relationship challenges, parenting difficulties and emotional well-being concerns.

Often people start counselling because they feel stuck and can't see a way forward. Sometimes we think that our problems are because of one thing when actually there a lots of things mixed together making things much more complicated that they might first appear.

Are Your Relationships Feeling Confusing, Hurtful or Like You're Performing?
Sometimes it feels like:
- Youre speaking a different language to everyone else
- Everyone else seems to make it look easy
- You're performing a part that doesn't feel like who you are

This can leave you feeling lonely, confused and rejected. Sometimes we find ways of being in relationships that make sense on the outside and seem to work, but on the inside we feel unseen like were playing a part we don't want to play.

I can help you to develop safe, compassionate relationships where you can show up authentically as your whole self with confidence.

I work with adults aged 18 and over and I can support you as an individual, a couple or in other relationships like parent and adult-child, to develop healthy boundaries and a common language, so you can be loved and accepted for who you are.

Experience

I have providing in person counselling to adults and couples in Godalming, Surrey and Online Counselling Nationwide.

The majority of my professional experience has been gained working within the private and charity sector.

I have personal and professional experience of relationship issues, neurodivergence, parenting challenges and perinatal mental health and trauma. My own life challenges are what motivate me and drive my passion to support others.

Initial Consultation

Our first session is about us getting to know each other and starting to lay the foundations for our work together. We'll have a few house keeping things to talk through, but other than that the session is for you to use however you need.

Everyone needs something slightly different from the first session, whether you've been desperate to get things of your chest, or would like to discuss a plan of action I will follow your lead. Sometimes you might need a little guidance or support at the beginning and I can offer this too.

Fees

Free 15 minute call to make sure we're a good fit.

Individual Clients:
£70 for a 50 minute session online session.

Couples and Relationship Therapy:
£85 per 60 minute session
£130 per 90 minute session

When I Work

Mornings: Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

Afternoons: Tuesday and Friday
